DSC Open Days

DSC Open Days

This year, over 7300 people came to visit the donkeys on our Open Days. Being with the animals in their world is a unique, peaceful experience. The letter below sums up so well what a visit to the DSC can be.

“My friend and I had yet another wonderful visit to the Sanctuary yesterday…what a nice day…thank you for staying open!

A few comments: First of all having come often over the years I am so happy to see the donkeys a little slimmer (for their own health) and looking so happy…they obviously like the new arrangements. So hope your barn can get completed…as winter is drawing in.

I would like to say that from the moment we were greeted by your enthusiastic volunteer at the car park…a name beginning with K….what a lovely welcome, to meeting other volunteers (sorry if they are staff) like Terri, Helia and three others whose faces are so familiar but the names allude me….we had such a great time.

The Sanctuary is so fortunate to have such great representatives who are knowledgeable, friendly and professional….it makes the whole experience so worthwhile.

We even had Solo come to the wire in the barn and actually look us in the eyes while we softly talked to him, that was wonderful as he is usually more “Solo”
Juanita was amazing…and stood posing on the tree stumps outside the mule paddock …it was a first close up and personal for us. Dear Summer was so busy eating leaves that I could not get her attention, but when I wandered off…she came for her love.

Thanks again to you all for the wonderful work you do…will see you and those spiritual friends in December.

Please pass on to your great volunteers how much I enjoy talking to them about the donkeys.”.

Sincerely,
Judith-Anne
