Da Vinci is a dapple grey Standard gelding born in 1986. Originally, he resided at a farm which became ultimately a DSC Foster Farm. When that happened, Meegers, another Standard gelding, was placed as a companion. While Meegers was living there, Da Vinci became very attached to him, and when the property had to be sold, the caregivers were very concerned about Da Vinci’s future.
As an older donkey, Da Vinci will require special care. Older donkeys often struggle with weight issues, and it is necessary to pay attention to potential problems with their teeth. Sharp points that form on the edges of the teeth, or missing teeth, can mean that food is not being chewed or digested properly. For these reasons, Da Vinci was admitted to the DSC.
Da Vinci is a very sweet donkey and since his arrival he has endeared himself to staff, volunteers and visitors. Even with young children, he is always gentle.
Da Vinci is enjoying his new life with the other donkeys and he will remain under the protection and care of The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada for the remainder of his life.
