Thank you for your interest in having your students
visit our Sanctuary.
Please make sure you have enough adults to supervise
the students. We can accommodate no more than 60 students.
While the actual tour lasts for an hour and a half,
you are most welcome to spend an extra half an hour and enjoy your picnic
here. Our Humane Educator will be on hand for this time to guide you on
the tour and assist, if necessary, during your picnic.
The tour is comprised of three sections.
a) A section relating to the reason for the Sanctuary,
donkey care and the humane treatment of all animals.
b) A section in the stables where the students learn about donkey communication
and are able to interact with some of the donkeys.
c) A section on environmental issues.
Sections a) and b) are led by the Humane Educator
with supervision of students by teachers and parents.
Section c) is led by the teachers and parents.
Depending on numbers, the students may be divided
into two or three groups that will rotate through these sections.
We have put together a set of worksheets for Grades
JK through 6 that can be accessed on our web site (www.thedonkeysanctuary.ca)
under the ‘Education’ section. These may be used both pre
and post trip. There is also a selection of worksheets that we have designed
to be used at the farm for the environmental part of your tour. We have
marked these accordingly.
If you wish to book a tour you may call me on the number at the top of
this page.
I will get back to you as soon as possible and confirm
your booking and the time you would like to arrive. Again, thank you for
your interest in The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.
