Bear Donkey

Bear is a brown miniature donkey, who was born in 2014.

Before Bear arrived at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), he resided on a cattle farm in Northern Ontario. Bear was used as a guard donkey for a herd of cattle; however, he was acting too aggressively towards the calves, and the farmer wanted to rehome him due to this aggression.

The DSC was called to see if we could provide a safe home for Bear. Bear arrived in December 2019.

Bear arrived here at the Sanctuary as an intact male. As all male donkeys here at the DSC who come intact, Bear was gelded after his quarantine time was over, and he had received the necessary vaccinations, like Tetanus.

Bear is a noisy little guy, who loves to let everybody know that he is here by braying loudly.
