Phoebe is a gorgeous dark brown mammoth donkey who was born on October 20, 2011 in Tennessee, USA.

Before coming to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), Phoebe and her two little miniature donkey friends, Ross, and Rachel, lived on a farm near Ottawa. All three donkeys were well loved and cared for by their previous owner. When Phoebe’s ongoing medical issues ( and she has a few) made it too difficult for her to care for them, as she was struggling with her own health issues, she made the heartbreaking decision to have the three friends come to the DSC.

The three donkeys arrived in the summer of 2023. Since her arrival, Phoebe has had surgery to have her diseased eye removed. She recovered nicely from the surgery and is slowly adjusting to life with one good eye.

Phoebe is a very sweet donkey with very impressive long and fuzzy ears. She is the biggest donkey at the Sanctuary.
