Jennet (female donkey)
Uma lived on a farm in Southern Ontario in the company of several horses. Uma’s caretaker was very fond of the donkey, but after her husband’s death, it became necessary to sell the farm. Uma was admitted for lifelong care to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada in autumn 2006.
Uma is a very relaxed, curious creature since she had lived all of her life in a positive environment.
Uma is very fond of human attention, and she is terrific with visitors of all ages who come to visit the DSC Farm.
In 2021 Uma was diagnosed with severe arthritis in her front feet. She now wears soft ride boots most of the time. She also receives pain medication to keep her comfortable.
