Visit the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada

There are many ways to experience the magic of the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), whether you are planning a special day trip, looking for a peaceful outing, or hoping to visit the donkeys throughout the season. From our popular Sunday Open Days, Seniors’ Days and Guided Tours to Annual Passes, there is a visit option for everyone.

Sunday Open Days

Our Sunday Open Days are the most popular way to visit the Sanctuary. Held on most Sundays from May through October, Open Days give visitors the opportunity to explore the farm at their own pace, meet our resident donkeys and mules, and learn more about the work we do to provide lifelong care and advocacy for these animals. Visitors are welcome to stroll the grounds, chat with volunteers, enjoy the trails, and spend time observing the donkeys. Advance tickets are recommended, as many Open Days sell out.

Throughout the year, we also offer special seasonal Open Days, including our Spring Celebration Open Day and Holiday Open Days, which provide unique opportunities to experience the Sanctuary during different times of the year.

Seniors’ Days

Designed specifically for older adults, Seniors’ Days offer a quieter and more relaxed visiting experience. These adults-only events provide plenty of time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Sanctuary, connect with the donkeys, and learn about their stories from our knowledgeable volunteers. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while spending a memorable day with the donkeys. Seniors’ Days have become a cherished tradition for many guests who return year after year.

Guided Tours

For visitors looking for a more in-depth experience, Guided Tours offer a unique opportunity to learn about the Sanctuary, its residents, and the important work being done to improve the lives of donkeys, mules, and hinnies.

Led by knowledgeable guides, these tours provide fascinating insights into donkey behaviour, welfare, and care. Guests will hear stories about many of our residents, discover how animals come into our care, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges donkeys face both in Canada and around the world.

Guided Tours are ideal for first-time visitors, animal lovers, and anyone interested in learning more about the Sanctuary’s mission. Tours are offered on Mondays and Fridays throughout the season and advance booking is required.

Annual Passes

For those who can’t get enough donkey time, an Annual Pass is the perfect option. Annual Pass holders enjoy unlimited admission to regular Open Days for a full year, making it easy to visit as often as they like. There is no need to reserve tickets in advance for Open Days. Passholders simply present their pass and enjoy their visit.

Annual Passes also include additional benefits, such as a discount at the Long Ears Boutique and reduced pricing on guided tours. Whether you’re a dedicated donkey enthusiast, a photographer, a nature lover, or simply someone who enjoys the peaceful atmosphere of the Sanctuary, an Annual Pass offers exceptional value while helping to support the donkeys in our care.

Plan Your Visit

No matter which option you choose, every visit to the DSC helps support the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of donkeys, mules, and hinnies in need. Each season brings new stories, new friendships, and new opportunities to connect with these animals.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Sanctuary and sharing the joy of donkeys with you.
