When you choose to sponsor a donkey, mule, or hinny, whether for yourself or as a gift for someone else, you’re helping make a meaningful difference in an animal’s life.
Sponsorships are just $10/month or $75/year, and your support provides essentials like nutritious food, medicine, veterinary and farrier care, shelter, safe fencing, training, education, and so much more.
Please note: After we receive your sponsorship form and payment, it takes about two weeks to process your order, prepare your kit, and mail it out. Delivery times may vary depending on Canada Post.
Oliver represents donkeys who need specialized lifelong care. His blindness and underdeveloped ear would have made life extremely difficult without intervention. He shows how some donkeys come to the DSC not necessarily because they weren’t cared for, but because their needs exceed what most environments can provide.

Beans represents senior donkeys, who need more intensive care as they age. His recovery from pneumonia and continued vulnerability highlight how older animals often require monitoring, veterinary support, and adapted living conditions that owners may not always be able to sustain long-term.

Aiden represents urgent rescue needs. His critical condition at just days old shows how quickly intervention is necessary when something goes wrong. He also reflects the Sanctuary’s ability to provide round-the-clock care and proper social development for foals that come into care.

Phoebe’s story reflects a common and heartfelt reason animals arrive: an owner who cares deeply but can no longer provide care due to health or life changes. Her case also highlights donkeys with ongoing medical needs, reinforcing the Sanctuary as a place of both compassion and expertise.

Patrick represents donkeys whose behavioural history makes them difficult to manage. Having lived as a jack for most of his life, his behaviour requires knowledgeable handling and careful management that the Sanctuary is uniquely equipped to provide.

Kingston tells the story of animals who come from neglectful or unsuitable environments. His lack of early care and training left him fearful and reactive, showing how absence of proper handling can have long-term effects. He represents the patience and rehabilitation work needed to help animals learn to trust again.
