Peggy

Peggy lived on a farm in Eastern Canada alongside her companion, Arean. Both donkeys were cherished as beloved pets by their former owner.

As time passed, the owner became increasingly concerned about the donkeys’ long-term health and well-being. Wanting to ensure they would receive the highest standard of care before any potential medical issues became critical, the owner made the decision to place them in a setting where their needs could be fully met.

Peggy lives with contracted tendons and mechanical laminitis, which can make movement difficult at times. To help manage her condition, she was recently fitted with glue-on therapeutic shoes—only the second donkey at the sanctuary to try this innovative approach. So far, the shoes have provided noticeable relief and improved her comfort.
