Justin

Before arriving at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), Justin lived on a farm in Central Ontario. He was a well-loved companion animal but suffered from chronic laminitis. As part of our Host Farm Network, the DSC had placed two of our donkeys at the same farm to provide companionship for Justin.
However, when winter transitioned into spring, significant snowmelt caused flooding in the barn shelter, rendering it uninhabitable for the donkeys. As a result, we brought our two donkeys—along with Justin—back to the DSC’s main farm in the spring of 2025.
Given the ongoing nature of Justin’s laminitis, it was determined that remaining at the Sanctuary would be in his best interest, where he could receive consistent care and appropriate management for his condition.
