Driving for Donkeys!

Preparing for the Road Ahead

Preparing for the Road Ahead

Before we replace our truck, we want to recognize just how far it has taken us and the donkeys we serve.

Over the years, our truck has travelled thousands upon thousands of kilometres in the name of donkey welfare. It has carried us:

    • To Canada’s capital, Ottawa

    • Right into the heart of Toronto for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

    • As far north as North Bay and Sault St. Marie

    • As far east as Montreal, Quebec

    • Across the Canada–USA border to Vermont, Michigan, New York State, New Hampshire and Maine

Closer to home, it has been a true workhorse around the farm, from bringing hay off the fields, to winter snow plowing. It has hauled draft mules and an orphaned foal to safety and comfort. This truck has handled long days, heavy loads, and hard kilometres without hesitation.

Most importantly, it has brought approximately 90% of the donkeys and mules who currently call the Sanctuary home safely through our gates.

That’s a remarkable legacy.

But after years of service, those long kilometres are beginning to take their toll. To continue responding to rescues, transporting donkeys safely, hauling feed, and keeping daily operations running smoothly, we must now prepare for the next chapter.

Replacing our truck ensures that we can continue to travel wherever donkeys need us across rural Ontario, into cities, across borders, and back home again.

Every kilometre it has driven tells a story of rescue, care, and second chances.
With your support, we can keep driving for donkeys for many more kilometres to come.
