Meet Rico

Rico came to the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada from Quebec, where he had lived with his companion, Gaspard, since 2014. The pair were well cared for and loved by their previous owner, who made the thoughtful decision to relinquish them while she was still able to ensure they would have a safe and loving home for the future. They both arrived in the fall of 2026

Rico is settling into life at the Sanctuary, and we’re enjoying getting to know his gentle personality. He knows his name and will even come over when called, well, most of the time! With his sweet disposition and love of attention, Rico is already a wonderful addition to the Sanctuary family.
