Jose

Jose is a small brown Standard donkey, estimated to have been born in 2000. Not much is known about Jose’s life before he was moved to a farm in Southern Ontario, where he has lived together with another little donkey named Hector for the past six years. When the owners sold their farm, a new home was sought for the two little donkeys and the DSC was contacted. We were able to provide a home for Jose and his companion donkey in the summer of 2015.

Jose is a playful little donkey and became suitable to move to one of our Host Farms in 2019.

Jose returned to the DSC farm in 2024 as he had a problem with his hind end coordination. He was diagnosed with EPM, which leads to the progressive degeneration of the central nervous system. While there is no cure and it’s impossible to predict how it progresses, we are treating Jose to keep him stable and ensure he is comfortable.
