Two Donkeys Grazing

Kevin

Kevin is a brown Standard donkey. Kevin was born on a cattle farm, where his mom and another donkey resided. No care was given to Kevin right from the start and he was left out with the cattle and the other donkeys to fend for himself. The farm was also used as a boarding stable for horses and a kind lady, who boarded her horses there, took a liking to the little donkey, who was always limping. She started to give care to the little donkey and the other donkeys. At some point the owner decided to sell the three donkeys and when the lady saw that Kevin has not been getting up for weeks she decided she needed to do something. She contacted the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC) to see if we could take Kevin, if she bought him and gave him to us. A friend of her purchased the other two donkeys and gave them a home and Kevin came to the DSC.

Kevin was seen by the vet and farrier as soon as he arrived and given treatment to try to address the leg and hoof problems caused by such neglect. He was also gelded.

Kevin is a very shy and almost feral donkey, so handling him for treatment has been challenging so far, but we hope we can give Kevin a pain-free and peaceful life here on the Sanctuary Farm.
