Meet Chevy

Before Chevy arrived at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), he resided on a farm with livestock in western Ontario. Chevy was used for breeding purposes and when he was restricted from breeding, he developed behavioral issues. On the advice of the DSC, Chevy was gelded but the behavior remained the same. At this point, Chevy came to the DSC.

Chevy arrived in the late spring of 2020. He managed appropriately with small group housing and behavioral training. With time and dedicated work, Chevy was able to join a large herd of geldings. Recently, Chevy and his DSC buddy, Stryker joined a single gelding, Justin on a Host Farm. Due to farm circumstances, the 3 geldings returned to the DSC main farm within a year of their placement. Chevy settled back into life at the DSC quickly.

He enjoys interacting with the public during our open days.
