Sherlock

Sherlock and his brother Watson lived on a farm not too far from the Sanctuary. When the owner was no longer interested in keeping the two donkeys as guard animals on his farm, as they were not doing “their” job, he contacted the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC) to see if we could provide them with a home. When Sherlock and Watson arrived in the spring of 2017, they were not in the best shapes; Sherlock had open sores on his legs and was suffering from a skin condition. Medical treatment started immediately for him, and with proper care and nutrition his condition improved immensely. Sherlock spent a few years on one of our amazing Host Farms and just returned to the Sanctuary Farm in the fall of 2025.

Sherlock is a sweet donkey.
