We are open to visitors most Sundays from the first Sunday in May to the last Sunday in October for our regular open days. But we also open for some special guests every year, and to celebrate the holiday season with friends of the donkeys and mules.
On three Sundays during the holiday season, we open the Sanctuary for visitors to experience the farm in winter. Cold weather and (usually) snow create a whole new adventure with the donkeys and mules. Our Long Ears Boutique will also be open for gift shopping, and the donkeys’ longer coats are a delight to stroke for animal lovers of all ages.

The Long Ears Boutique is also open for holiday shopping on Mondays and Fridays from 9am to noon beginning November 24 through to December 19. And if you have pre-ordered sponsorship packages, you can opt to pick them up in the boutique on those days as well. (Note that the barnyard is NOT open on these special shopping days – boutique only)
Seniors’ Day at The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a cherished event designed to offer older adults a tranquil and enriching experience amidst the gentle company of rescued donkeys and mules. Stay tuned for 2026 Seniors’ Day dates.
Meet the Donkeys: Visitors can leisurely explore the sanctuary’s scenic grounds, with over 100 resident donkeys and mules. Knowledgeable volunteers are available to share insights into the animals’ stories and care.
Relaxation and Connection: The serene environment offers a perfect setting for relaxation and reflection.
Seniors (60+): $15
Accompanying Adults: $20 (if accompanied by a senior)
Note: Children are very welcome on other days, but Seniors’ Days are adults-only.
No advance tickets are required; admission is payable on arrival.
Facilities: While most areas are wheelchair-accessible, some trails and barnyard sections may have uneven terrain.
Picnic Areas: Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, to be enjoyed in the picnic area overlooking the pond.

We like to plan ahead here at the DSC, so when you buy a ticket, we know to expect you on an open day. Particularly for reasons of parking capacity, it’s good for us to know how many people will be coming out to visit the donkeys and mules on one of our Open Days.
When we do know that we’ll have more capacity for parking than we have sold tickets, we make some tickets available at the gate. A word of caution, though, we can’t guarantee they won’t be sold out before you get here.
Only service animals are permitted to visit the farm.
Yes, strollers are permitted at the DSC, except in the Donkey House and Learning Centre.
Please be aware that there may be areas (grass, gravel path/driveway) where it might be difficult for a stroller to roll smoothly.
Although most areas are accessible for wheelchairs, some trails and areas of the barnyard have rough or uneven terrain.
The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a working farm. We recommend closed toe shoes and long pants.
